At DPL Insurance we pride ourselves on delivering a streamline service to all our customers.

Our team combine an eclectic mix of skills and experience from within the insurance and finance industries, and, we keep up to date with insurance trends and best practice to ensure our products are well suited to New Zealanders.
James Searle – General Manager

James is responsible for the strategic direction and operational performance of the company. He has over 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, having worked across a range of functions and in leadership roles at companies such as IAG and Lumley.

Neil Taylor – Claims Manager

Neil is responsible for managing our extensive claims team. He has over 35 years’ experience in the insurance industry. For the last 29 years at Autosure, he has predominately overseen the claims functions.

Sharon Fry – Operations Manager

Sharon is responsible for managing our operations team. She has a breadth of experience in administration within the insurance industry, including 13 years with Autosure.

Oleg Reshanov – Commercial Manager

Oleg has over 20 years’ experience in senior finance roles in the insurance, automotive and banking industries, with companies including IAG, Lumley, GM and BMW.

Natalie Ross-Murphy – Marketing Manager

Natalie is responsible for leading and developing our marketing function. She has over 20 years’ experience across B2B and B2C, both online and through traditional channels. Her role prior to DPL was with ANZ Bank as Marketing Manager – Insurance.

Gavin Lightfoot – Sales Performance Manager

Gavin is responsible for working with our agents to support their strategic growth and staff development initiatives. He has over 25 years’ experience in the automotive and training industries, in both New Zealand and Australia, working with some of the largest automotive corporates.

Warwick Bourne – Northern Regional Sales Manager

Warwick has over 20 years’ motor vehicle industry experience. He has held a variety of sales and management roles across finance with UDC Finance and Ford Credit, leasing & fleet management with FleetPartners and Custom Fleet, and insurance in his current role at Autosure.

Nigel Trewhitt – Southern Regional Sales Manager

Nigel has over 30 years’ experience in the finance, insurance and motor vehicle finance and vehicle sales industries. Specialising in finance and insurance recruitment and F&I sales training, his experience places him perfectly to speak into any dealership’s F&I department.

Antony Vriens – Chairman

Antony Vriens has been a director and Chairman of Turners’ insurance subsidiary DPL Insurance since 2012. Antony is a highly experienced and commercial financial service professional with demonstrated success as a senior executive and consultant in insurance and wealth management businesses within Australia and New Zealand.

Paul Byrnes – Director

Paul Byrnes is a chartered accountant, and professional director and investor with 25 years’ experience in senior and CEO roles in private and listed companies. His career has included the management buyout of previously listed Holeproof Industries, consulting and participation in merger and acquisition opportunities and business ‘turnaround’ management. Paul was appointed CEO and Executive Director of Dorchester Pacific in May 2008 (now Turners Automotive Group), handing over the CEO role to Todd Hunter in June 2016, but retained in an executive role focusing on merger and acquisition activity under a two year contract. Until recently, Paul was Chairman of power company Top Energy and a director of listed Hellaby Holdings. Paul has a 4.44% shareholding in Turners Automotive Group

John Roberts – Independent Director

John Roberts has extensive experience in the financial services industry having held the role of Managing Director of credit bureau Veda International for 10 years during which time the Veda Advantage business was successfully listed on the ASX. John previously had over 15 years in advertising agencies with CEO roles with Saatchi & Saatchi in New Zealand and Asia Pacific before heading up Mastercard in New Zealand for three years.

Competitive Remuneration and Annual Review Process

All our full time management and sales staff are paid on salary, plus bonus/incentives. Salary and wages are formally reviewed at least annually, usually at the commencement of the new financial year.

 

Learning and Development

We want to create an environment where you can continually develop, grow, improve your skills and improve your effectiveness. This development may occur through a variety of methods. We recognise that training needs are different for everyone so we endeavour to provide a variety of options. Training needs will be identified through regular performance meetings, discussions with your manager and any skills gap identified through the annual performance reviews.

 

Southern Cross Health Care (Voluntary)

Available to all permanent employees. DPL Insurance cares about your health and offers you health insurance from Southern Cross at a discounted rate through the Turners Automotive Group “Voluntary” Scheme.

 

Life Insurance

Available to all permanent employees who work a minimum 37.5 hours per week. The amount of the benefit is the equivalent of one year base salary and the cover is for death or diagnosis of a terminal illness. This is fully subsidised by DPL Insurance.

 

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

EAP is part of our Health, Safety and Wellness strategy and helps our employees deal with personal and work issues. It is a totally confidential and professional counselling programme.

Birthday Leave

Available to all permanent employees who work a minimum 37.5 hours per week. You are entitled to a paid day off to celebrate your birthday so long as you have been employed for a minimum of 6 months prior to when your actual birthday falls.

We’ll always do our best to get things right and provide you with great service, however, if things do go wrong, here’s what to do:

We’ll acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and make sure it’s fully investigated. You’ll receive written advice of the outcome within 7 working days, or, if no decision has been made, we’ll give you an update on the progress of your case. Finally, if we are unable to resolve your complaint within two months we’ll let you know.

We are a participant of the Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme (IFSO Scheme). The IFSO Scheme resolves complaints about insurance and financial services. This is an independent scheme that’s free of charge to you.

If you wish to have your complaint considered by them, please contact the Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman office no later than three months after we informed you that deadlock has been reached with your claim.
